Summer Patio Planters

Last fall we got on clearance at Lowes these beautiful white planters to flank our walkway. As soon as the spring started to arrive I was excited to implement all that I had learned from Pinterest! There is a ton of different ideas floating around Pinterest and I found that there is a method to creating beautifully curated planters.

There are 3 main components when choosing flowers

Also, stick with plants that work in your planting zone. The easiest way to pick is to head to your local nursery or home improvement store they will only sell plants that will thrive in your planting zone.

Supplies Needed:

  • Large Planter
  • Plants – I used Petunias (filler), White+Pink Whirl Calibrachoa (Filler), Spike Dracaena (Thriller) and Variegated Vinca (Spiller)
  • Garden Soil
  • Garden Gloves
  • Watering Can
  • Hand Rake
  • Trowel
  • Rocks – add to the bottom of your planter for drainage

I am really excited to see how these fill out over the next few weeks. If you are new to gardening or have a black thumb like myself I like to use planters and annuals. I find that annuals are low maintenance other than water, sun and maybe some fertilizer a couple times a season.

I hope this post inspires you to create some beautiful summer planters for your home.
